Peer Review Process

The Healthmed Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (HJPS) employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of all published research.

Review Stages

Stage 1: Editorial Assessment (1-3 days)

Upon submission, the editor-in-chief or an associate editor performs an initial assessment to determine if the manuscript:

  • Falls within the journal's scope
  • Meets basic quality and formatting standards
  • Is free from plagiarism (checked using plagiarism detection software)
  • Adheres to ethical guidelines

Stage 2: Peer Review (2-4 weeks)

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to at least two independent peer reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The review is double-blind — neither authors nor reviewers know each other's identities.

Stage 3: Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication as-is
  • Minor Revision: Small changes are needed before acceptance
  • Major Revision: Significant revisions are required and the manuscript will be re-reviewed
  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards

Stage 4: Revision (if applicable)

Authors are given a specific timeframe to submit their revised manuscript along with a detailed point-by-point response to the reviewer comments.

Stage 5: Final Decision and Publication

After satisfactory revision, the manuscript is accepted and proceeds to copyediting, typesetting, and publication.
